Troop 51 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) At-a-glance “Scouting is a game with a purpose,” and all games have rules which must be followed for the participants to have fun and stay safe. Below is a condensed list of the Standard Operating Procedures, or rules, for Troop 51. Ř Scouts must live by the Scout Oath, Law, Motto and Slogan in their daily lives, always! Ř Scouts must stick with a buddy at all times – no exceptions! Ř Scouts must always wear official Boy Scout uniform for meetings, service projects, Boards of Review, Courts of Honor, travel to and from campouts, and other events as announced. (Uniform assistance is available. Please discuss with Scoutmaster.) Ř Scouts should arrive promptly (or a little early). Ř Scouts must “Be Prepared” for the activity at hand. (i.e. If you are attending a meeting, bring Scout Handbook, notepad, pen or pencil.) Ř Scouts, lower than First Class rank, must always have a tent partner on all campouts. Ř Scouts must not ever, ever, ever have any liquid fuel fire starters for personal use at any time – no exceptions. Ř Cell phones are allowed on campouts for safety reasons, but they must be used appropriately and must not interfere with the campout. Ř No open flames in tents –NO EXCEPTIONS! Ř Scouts must not “play” with fire. Fire is a tool! (Firem’n Chit) Ř Scouts must not “play” with knives. Knives are tools! (Totin’ Chip) Ř Water is the only food or beverage allowed in tents! Ř Scouts must be current on their annual dues of $50 to participate. (Merit-based scholarships and camperships may be earned. Please talk to Scoutmaster.)
